Today is International Squash Day. This is the year that the IOC decides whether squash will be an Olympic sport of the 2016 Games. That it isn't already an Olympic sport whereas "sports" like synchronized swimming are, is a travesty. It would have been a great poetic justice if squash had been inaugurated at the 2012 Games in England, where it was invented, but alas it wasn't to be.
I have played the sport since university and it has meant a lot to me. It has (more or less) kept me fit and doing something competitive. More importantly, I have met some great people. Most people that have taken up the sport get hooked - it is fairly easy to learn and offers a great cardio workout in a small amount of time.
So, if you play, hopefully you played today in support of the cause to make it an Olympic sport. And if you've never played, well, give it a shot. You might like it.
