Brickbreaker is a simple game that comes preloaded on Blackberries. I hadn't played it for the first 18 months of having my phone and then I saw someone playing it on the T and that's when my additction started. I've since logged plenty of hours on the game. I was glad to see that I'm not alone. My friends Darren and Cooper are similarly addicted. And they showed me the WSJ article, which is a must read if you've ever played the game. It begins:
When Richard Fuld, chief executive of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., couldn't control his addiction, he took drastic measures. In October, he had the game BrickBreaker taken off his BlackBerry.
"I was playing so much," says Mr. Fuld, who had used it to relax on the plane or in the car. He missed it so much he had it reinstalled, but it's no longer on the main menu. That removes the temptation, he says, "for the most part."
My addiction is waning since I achieved my original goal of finishing all of the 34 levels (the game starts over at level 1 but the pace if faster). My high score is 23,750, which means I finished all of the levels once and got to about the 13th or 14th level the 2nd time round. However, levels 16 and 17 are the most damaging for me. Anyway, I related my high score to a friend who didn't believe me so here's some proof below!
