Singshot -- kSolo's Competition
Singshot just launched their beta site. They are a fast-follower to the innovative kSolo (which recently got bought by FIM), although Singshot has some cool features that I don't think kSolo has, like the ability to embed a recording on another site, which will be key for viral distribution. TechCrunch has a good comparison of the two. Amazing how much a startup operating in stealth mode can achieve in a short period of time. kSolo has a huge advantage with its FIM affiliation (MySpace and American Idol to name the biggest syndergies). But there's room for Singshot to 'be Switzerland' and work with all sorts of other partners that may compete with MySpace or FIM more broadly.
I did some work for kSolo last year and know Nimrod Lev, its founder, and also know Ranah Edelin, the founder of Singshot. I respect both entrepreneurs and am looking forward to continued innovation. And I publicly call for a sing-off between Nimrod and Ranah to determine the winner in the online karaoke wars!
I tried both, but I prefered singshot.com because of its multi browser flash version. However with all this big karaoke site, I still prefered old ways (sing-along style online). I can do air guitar...
